Monument to Yegor Gaydar
Moscow, Atrium of the M. Rudomino Library of Foreign Literature
The monument was inaugurated on November 15, 2013. The day was not chosen randomly. This day, November, 15, 1991, the government of Yegor Gaydar (also known as “reformists’ government”) started its work.
“For many years Yegor Timurovich has been a member of our Board of Trustees and very interested in the life of the Library. I think that the presence of this great man among the monuments of our Atrium is quite reasonable. Sculpture of Yegor Gaydar is standing next to another prominent figure Academician Dmitry Likhachov. For the Library both of them are symbols of a non-stop intellectual search”, comments Yekaterina Geniyeva, Director of the Library of Foreign Literature.
George Frangulyan, author of the sculpture: “I have great reverence to Yegor Gaydar. Determination and ability to promote his ideas, these are qualities that made me create this sculpture. The monumental work is more than just another figure, in fact, it turned to be the monument, and it’ll stand in the worthiest place where is a large collection of wonderful, great people.”
